ACQUISITION OF PICTURES
We are going to see the different method used in Acquisition of picture:
- Acquiring Engineering Drawings
Examples: Building plans, Block diagrams, Machine drawings.
Engineering drawings will be usually in geometry.
It consist of lines, arcs of circle and ellipse.
To scan a engineer drawing we need a A0 size large scanner. Which is (841 mm*1189).
It have geometry coordinates x and y axis.
Acquiring Two-tone pictures:
Two-tone pictures or black and white pictures,
like free hand drawing, cartoons and handwriting.
These two-tone picture are scanned in section 3.2.1.
Two-tone pictures normally needs 1.4MB storage.
Handwritten documents are not classified as two-tone pictures.
To print a two-tone India have software for that
is called Chitrankan made by CDCA.
If the image is not printed it will be printed in bit map form.
Acquiring Multi-tone Pictures:
In two-tone we have seen black and white pictures.
Where black is stored as 0s and white as 1s.
Multitone contains various colours of grey shades between black and white.
Examples:
- Black and white photographs.
- pencil drawing using of shades.
- X-ray pictures.
With 4 bits we can represent 16 shades of grey.
Average storage is 11.34MB.
Acquiring colour picture:
Most of the scanners available in market can scan both black and white and colour picture.
Red, green and blue are the primary colours.
The principal used here is scanning the intensity of primary colours.
R,G,P components also called.
It is measured by CCD by 8 significant bits.
