 OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGNITION

In last article we have studied about bitmaps and scanners;

So, what are the disadvantages of bitmaps;

• It requires of huge storage
• Difficult to search

OCR(Optical character recognition) is designed to scan the text and converts into ASCII form. 

This is Optical character recognition software.

OCR contains the following parts:

• Using a standard font it is Times Roman 10.
• Handwritten text.
• Letters are un connected.
• A page contains different fonts, picture and table.

We all known there are different types of hand writing the major one are;

• Unconditional handwriting

In unconditional handwriting the letters will be separated but some write very good where their algorithm of recognition will be 85%.

• Cursive handwriting

cursive handwriting has changed the fonts world. Which will be slanting. Mostly written in postal code.

To check a given word in a document we use the word search option or ctrl + f .

But I hope after OCR came there has been no complaints about spelling mistake, it fix the errors itself.
